Offroad Modified Suzuki Jimny - Rig Walk-Around Review

In this video, I’ve decided to answer some of the many questions I receive about my Suzuki Jimny by doing an in-depth walkaround review. I go through the suspension lift and tires that I’m running, along with all the other small modifications done so far that allow me to go offroad, from guards and protection to transfer case gear reduction and winch. You will also see the cabin where I’ve done a custom audio upgrade and seat replacement. I hope you enjoy it!

    • It should be simple and effective procedure. However, the Vitara/Baleno engines that fit are now 30 years ago and it would be quite difficult to find a decent one.

    • @xGreekGod As I said, I didn't hear any difference from the filter alone, and as far as the snorkel goes... well, it adds a very specific sound which not everyone would describe as "better". I suggest you find a mate with a snorkel to hear it for yourself first before buying one on your Jimny. ;)

    anoop georgeanoop georgeپیش 5 ماه

      George KandilarovGeorge Kandilarovپیش 5 ماه
  • I think you should check out some modifications of the Jimny and other vehicles done in Iceland. We do minimal lift on the vehicle but cut into the body and wheel wells to fit larger tires and still have space for suspension travel. That way we are able to fit up to 35" tires on the Jimny. Other larger trucks and SUV's are fitted with anything between 33" to 54" tires. One Ford 350 is now being equipped with 58" tires. But also we do snow wheeling with an aim to sink as little into the snow as possible so we try to fit larger tires where we can...

    andrifsigandrifsigپیش 5 ماه
    • Well, what you have there makes way more sense to me compared to here, where the authorities check both the engine and chassis number... I get the chassis - to check if the vehicle isn't stolen; but why on earth the engine :D Anyway, I'm glad you liked the video and hope you will stay and I'll see you again on the channel for future videos :)

      George KandilarovGeorge Kandilarovپیش 5 ماه
    • @George KandilarovLooks like a simpler process. Most privately owned vehicles are registered by their chassis number. Meaning you can switch pretty much everything out and make it street legal, that is if you build it in accordance to the regulations. One instance of creative thinking is a Jeep Wrangler body built on top of a Land Cruiser 60 chassis. Engine comes from Wrangler but almost everything else comes from the Toyota. He had to fabricate an extension to the rear of the vehicle to accomodate the longer chassis. Looks like a long Wrangler but according to authorities that vehicle is a Land Cruiser 60.

      andrifsigandrifsigپیش 5 ماه
    • 1.3 to 1.6 conversion seems to be very common form what i see on the internet. However, I dont know how's in Iceland but here in Bulgaria it will be difficult and expensive to get the necessary papers to be street legal again after an engine conversion.

      George KandilarovGeorge Kandilarovپیش 5 ماه
    • @George Kandilarov Most are running original engines with some tinkering to the exhaust and of course lower gearing. Some are making modifications to their engines to up their power. Some have fitted other suzuki engines like 1,6 liter and one even has a 2,0 liter engine.

      andrifsigandrifsigپیش 5 ماه
    • Yep, I've seen 4x4s there and they look awesome! However, the Jimmy's small 1.3l engine is struggling even with these tires... I suppose you're fitting bigger engines?

  • Hi, George. Thanks for this video. I just bought Jimny and was lost in all information about it. Your video helped me to focus back again. Im experiencing some difficulties riding on sand with Jimny, i run simple winter tires 205 65 r15 now. Mostly when Im stuck, one side wheels are spinning, other dont. Possibly because of open diffs. What could you suggest? Lower tire pressure, or some more serious tires or just air compressed diff blockers?

    Paulius SlivinskasPaulius Slivinskasپیش 8 ماه
    • Hey, I think you just gave me ideas for several future videos :D how to choose the proper tires, what air pressure to run for different terrains, how part-time 4wd works, and when do differential lockers help. Thank you! The quick answer to your question would be - lower tire pressure (~1 bar) and a rear diff locker.
